I am a commercial photographer and digital imaging professional located in St. Louis, Missouri, with 18 years experience in studio and on location. I have completed a wide variety of assignments, in the areas of advertising, corporate/industrial brochures, annual report, and fashion/product catalogs. I specialize in photographing people and product on location. My equipment for these assignments, has been all over the world, packs up into nine suitcases, and can be completely reassembled in about a half hour. It's basically a go anywhere "studio".
In my studio I have a 40 X 40 shooting space adjacent to a 1,600 square foot woodworking shop for prop and set building. In addition to ample dressing room facilities, there is also a complete gourmet kitchen. I shoot with traditional film cameras in addition to having four years experience shooting digitally. I have used the Leaf DCB II extensively always doing my own RGB to CMYK conversions,, and presently have over 8,000 "digitally produced" images in print.
Using strobes and power packs, shooting formats from 35mm to 4X5, in the desert or under 100 feet of salt water, I have glamorized products as big as an L1011, built sand beaches and swimming pools indoors, and in general creatively solved every photographic problem my clients have been able to come up with.
Web Site Development:
I have recently perfected techniques that make web site graphics and images look great and download quickly, some evidence of which is located here. Along with scanning the images I conceived, designed, developed, and coded the pages for this site. I have more than seven years experience working with Photoshop, Illustrator, Live Picture, and Quarkxpress. I am totally comfortable in either a Mac or PC environment and am presently working with OS 8.5 and Windows 98. Due to recent requests from various clients I have now began to include web site graphics as part of my repertoire.
Digital Imaging:
Having worked as an electrical engineer prior to becoming a photographer I immediately embraced the positive impact of computers and digital cameras on the imaging industry, regularly employing their advantages when searching for the best solution to a design problem. Using imaging software as just another tool, I have found that it is often more efficient to gather the raw materials for your project quickly in the field and then create the perfect image later on the computer. Even if you intend to do the image manipulation yourself, I think it is wise to invest in a photographer who understands the process completely so that your project runs smoothly, and is completed on time.
